this week I met my third lawyer that wants to leave it all behind and start a new life full of art and/or music. Literally, quit their jobs at x and y firm and hit the streets seeking graphic design jobs, gallery internships, live band gigs and artist assistantships (is that even a word? Maybe I just spelled it incorrectly-assistanceships?)
is being a lawyer just super bad these days? Did lawyership (another mystery word courtesy of yours truely) always have these kinds of defection rates to the arts? do lawyers think artists get more boodie than they do? (which I would think is not true, what with the whole economic factor.)
i wonder what kind of shape the other professions are in. Are doctors and pharmacists trying to be painters and drummers, too? Are engineers hitting the road in beat-up tour vans all across America?
i also wonder how long it will take for them all to realize being an artist equals poverty. Either way, I think it's rad.
