So...I had the entire weekend off of work. Friday through Monday. I did absolutely nothing! I continually tried to get my few remaining local friends to go out and do something...or even stay in and do something. No luck. The girl I went out with a few time a couple weeks ago, hasn't contacted me in about two weeks (well unless you count a strange Facebook card that said "Caution: This is Sparta" with a stick-figure man kicking another stick figure man off a ledge...not sure what that means?!?!?).
I DID go up to the mountains Saturday morning so I could hike back to the base of Mt. Torreys to get the skis that we abandoned there last week. We had to abandon about $10000 in gear because we got trapped on the mountain traveling way too slow to summit before nightfall and our only option was to bail down the other side of the mountain. We were traveling so slowly 1) because the weather was awful! and 2) because I came down with a pretty severe case of acute mountain sickness. This is my first experience with AMS. I have always had trouble sleeping at altitude, so a friend let me try some of his Diamox, which is a diuretic commonly used for altitude sickness. Unfortunately, all it did was make me piss all night long and resulted in me waking up the next morning dehydrated. Once I started climbing and became nauseous this just compounded. In all, we spent 14.5 hours climbing. But getting back to THIS weekend (that was LAST weekend). We snowshoed back up to where we'd left the skis (someone had come back for the gear at our camp earlier in the week), and it was all still there, so we skied back to the car. It was VERY nice to find all our equipment still where we'd left it!
When I got back from the ski retrieval..there was still just enough of that wonderful sun/warmth we had Saturday for me to take a short trip on my motorcycle. It made me VERY sad that I'm selling it. I REALLY love riding around on it in nice weather!
Getting back to my gripe though...other than those two things, I spent pretty much the entire weekend sitting on my bed watching TV off my DVR or DVDs. I really hate that all of my close friends have left the area, and I realize that I'll be leaving in a few months too, but it makes these last few months go SO slowly! Those of you who have an idea of how my schedule works will realize this already, but for those of you who don't...I won't have an entire weekend off again for EIGHT WEEKS!! I get lots of time off work, but it usually ends up being in the middle of the week when most people can't or don't want to do anything...so loosing out on this weekend really hurts...I'm doing my very best to NOT let myself fall into a deep pit of self-pity and loathing...doing ok at it too...but it'd sure be nice to have some people to hang out with on occasion for the next four months...
On that note...I'm paying my second and final deposit for school in the next few weeks. I also got an official rejection from Thomas Jefferson in Philli. I also have two guys whom I've never met lined up as roommates once I get to Florida. I've gotten most of my banking switched over to Wachovia since they've got a bunch of branches near campus. I've got all my financial aid paperwork done and am waiting to hear from the school, but they say that won't happen until May. So things are sorta progressing real well...now its just a matter of time...which I seem to have an over abundance of!

No I'm not yet. I'm finishing up my BIO courses first. So hopefully in a couple semesters. I hope.
