I like you but I know you don't know it
I like you so much, I talk to everyone but you
and I wonder what you would think of this little number
I wonder what you would say if you knew;
If you don't ask the right questions,
every answer seems wrong
I was a terrible waitress, so I started to write songs
and I don't know how I feel, but I wonder if you feel like me
Do you ever get wrapped up in the folds of my memory?
-Ani DiFranco, hell yeah
Hello all! I have been AWOL from the web for a while because it is too damn cold in the room where my computer is! Um okay God, enough with the cold rain Im ready for spring now, thank you.
Just one issue of note lately: Jen is a fan of teeny-bopper pop (Jesus help me when we are in the car: if I hear one more Madonna song I might eject the CD and play Frisbee into on-going traffic), and her newest infatuation (both musically and lustfully) is Kelly Clarkson. Yes, that American Idol chick. Thats a whole other issue upon itself. In any case, her new song is driving me up the wall, and not just because I have to hear it incessantly at her apartment. Have you caught it? It goes something like this
because of you, I never stray too far from the sidewalk
because of you, I find it hard to trust not only me, but everyone around me
because of you, I am afraid!
and other such lines about how shell always be extra SUPER FUCKEN CAREFUL in each and every activity for each and every day of the rest of her life. The first time I heard it, I said to my friend Barbara, What the hell is this song about? and she told me that Clarkson wrote it for her father, who had passed away. Apparently his death made her more appreciative of life. OKAY correct me if I am wrong, but did his death also cause an intense anxiety disorder about living in general???? I have dubbed the song, Learning to Embrace Agoraphobia and now when it comes on the radio, I replace the lyrics with such things as because of you, I cannot eat solid food without being convinced I will choke and because of you, I have a wicked Xanax addiction.
One last note: I saw North Country this weekend and it was damn good, although halfway through the film I started to get an overwhelming fear and self-consciousness about being a woman on this earth. Perhaps I should whip out my pen and write a pop song about that.

You're yet to witness a practical.
Also there are phrases that just don't make sense to my english ears. For instance
"get in the back of me!" I had a kid repeat that a million times, i think he wanted me to get behind him. (pushing on swings a long time ago).
Is that a common phrase? I guess i'll know soon enough.
I'll keep you informed....
Incidentally what do you teach and to how old a student?
