In actual conversation, almost nobody "laughs out loud" at the end of their sentence. Some people giggle inanely after saying something, mostly as a symptom of low self-confidence, but almost nobody "laughs out loud". If they did, they'd most likely be deranged, or at least thought of as such. This is just another reason "lol" and it's many derivatives seem so pointless and quite stupid to me. I know it's the internet equivalent of the giggle more than the laugh - the "fun" exclamation at the end of the statement to show the person is speaking in good humour - but really, it's lame as fuck.
It's very nearly as bad as "+1". +1. Gimmie a fucking break. "Oh, I agree, but not so much that I can expound on your statement with my own viewpoint, nor apparently enough that I can even be bothered to write "I agree", as I can apparently only manage to hit two keystrokes. That's how much I fucking agree." Maybe it's because you secretly know there's next to no point in just being the keyboard/internet equivalent of a nodding head, but you can't help yourself all the same.
Y'see, this is why I have no (well, hardly any) internet friends. The rules are lame and supportive of mindless contribution, which although may register a shared interest and subsequently earn friendships, has little more weight than silence, and considerably less poise.

I haven't seen anyone use LOL or +1, or any of that nonsense around here in a long time. Maybe you've been gone to long, my friend. lol
There are a few things that get my goat, such as: meh (??) miep! (???) and a few others that I've conveniently forgotten about until now.
But really, how've you been? Welcome back. Still with the band? Give me the lowdown.
