So, I finally gave in and bought a PSP today. M'self and Decibel are now partners in portable geekery in that regard. I will admit I had my misgivings about the PSP at first, what with its rumoured horrid battery life, ungainly size, deliberately broken hardware in the earlier distributions, and whatnot. To Sony's credit they fixed much of it. Battery life is still almost enough to get through a movie without hideously nerfing all settings, but the buttons work properly, the unit has not self destructed, and what I had at first feared to be a dead pixel turned out to just be dust.
I briefly considered buying a beefier memory card than the standard pissant of a 32 megabyte that came with it, but I decided against it on the grounds that I don't need it. All I am really going to be putting there is small files anyway; I have a watch for portable music and large file storage. Yes, a watch. I am just that much of a geek.
However, I must claim moral superiority to Decibel on at least one count. Although his TOM3 background is indeed quite respectable, as robots in general are fundamentally appropriate for the context, I still believe that my background image (featuring the lovely Lenox) tops it but good. A small victory perhaps, but a victory nontheless!
As far as subject matter for my entries goes, I think I have just reached a new low. But the bottom of the barrel is yet below me, and someday I will inevitably reach it. I am not sure whether or not this is a good thing.
