A thought occurs to me. Well, perhaps that should be reworded, as it hasn't really occurred to me so much as it simply reforms itself into something coherent, but either statement is correct in syntax and the semantics are similar enough that I have already wasted enough space talking about the difference, which is probably uninteresting to people with thought processes different than my own anyway. The fact that I have devoted as many mental cycles to trivial things such as how to word the manner in which a given thought enters my mind is part of the reason why I don't write in here much. Metadata is rarely interesting, and generally does not consitute good reading material. But I'm on a tangent again.

Have you ever noticed how your perceptions taint reality? Such as, for example, getting something new. For me anyway, it seems all shiny and perfect whenever I open anything first; it's only later that I notice any imperfections, once novelty wears off and it becomes just another thing I own. In this case, what brought the thought up was a woman, though in the interest of brevity (read: me not dying of acute carpal tunnel before finishing) I will refrain from going through the whole story, as it is both long and involved, and largely unnecessary for the matter at hand anyway except as a platform to jump from. Anyway, I notice that I meet a lot of women who, while physically very attractive, are complete fucking idiots. We all know at least one. It's a tangible thing for me... "wow, she's pretty" gets almost instantly overwritten with "wow, she's stupid" upon finding the latter to be true. Just the same, I have seen numerous rather plain women literally transform before my eyes into creatures of beauty as conversation progressed and I discovered them to be particularly intelligent. To me, you see, there is absolutely nothing sexier than a woman with a brain in her head. I am not entirely sure why I tend to be attracted to women who are smarter than me when I generally have better luck when I'm being made into an intellectual whore (remind me to write about that if you don't get that reference), but there you have it.

I wonder if this could be considered some kind of logical fallacy. Realistically, I know someone's appearance does not change simply on the virtue of that person being stupid or intelligent. And yet there it sits anyway. Odd.

Non-sequitur: I hear rumblings of something to happen on New Year's. What's the deal? My perception of time is such that I wouldn't even know New Year's was coming up if someone hadn't told me, so it's generally helpful for me to know of such things in advance.

But yeah, these are some of the things I tend to think about. The things that keep me away from a social life and out of good schools.
