when some one dies in the grip of a powerful rage a curse is born.
No bloody fucking shit. I love the way they tote this line like its something original. I have to admit that I fell for it too. This line intrigued me. It wasnt until the last 20 minutes or so that I realized just how fucking unoriginal this line is. There is a million movies that have the same premise. Something bad happensa bad person/thing is born. So that is strike one against The grudge. Strike two is its extreme similarity with The Ring. One of the evil beings actually looks like a carbon, fucking, copy of the chic from the ring. Strike three is something that has plagued me about horror movies for a long time. The fact that the end is ALWAYS left open for the sequel and The Grudge is no stranger to this practice.
You know what was original and scary. A movie called 8MM or a game called Manhunt These chunks of media are based on the idea of snuff films and how some people are really into this shit. Thats stuff that has actually happened and could happen to you. Thats scary. Not to say that the more fantastical movies cant be scary. They just need a far more creative mind behind them. Check out a movie called Ichi the killer. That is one crazy ass movie.
I hate the way new writers think its ok to take a bunch of old, over used, ideas and smash this shit together. They think this shit, when smashed together, makes a heaping pile of potpourri. Well I got bad news for the fucks. All it makes is a heaping pile of shit. Steaming and wet. Also critics will call crap like this good and everyone will flock to see it. People listen to critics WAY to much. They take the safe route about a movie and only say what some one else has already said. Its bullshit that movies like this are considered new and original when real good movies are over looked by these over hyped pieces of trash.
I will say, however, that they did a good job of making this shit look good from a distance. So I applaud their ability to convince me to stick my hand in its funk.
I know a lot of people are going to disagree with me and I invite the debate. Bring on your best about this pile of shit. Try to make it look like a pile of potpourri for me.
On the lighter side of things. My love Heidi took me to the Anime palace near Polaris. This is both a curse and a blessing. I have a passion for anime and its many quirks but I will spend money at this storelots of it.
