it is great to be home. leaving las vegas, besides being a fucking awful song by one of america's most overhyped singers, is a really great thing (and quite a good book). i no longer have to walk through casinos to get to the amenities of life. i have more than 14 channels on television, control over humidity, and a non-sensored refridgerator. life has improved dramtically.
i saw "constantine" on my last day in vegas while i sat around waiting to go to the airport (a huge FUCK YOU to the travel agent who booked me back on a 6pm flight on a day i didn't need to be there at all). it was quite good. i was stunned by keanu reeves, who i typically imagine as a puppet controlled by a long piece of wood inserted through his rectum and in place of his spine. he actually managed to not be an embarrassment to hollywood. the rest of the actors were far better, but that is to be expected. i won't give anything away, but the moments where the devil is directly in the movie are fucking fabulous. the actor who portays him is great.
i noticed while running through mandalay bay that the dead kennedys are playing house of blues on february 25th. the little bit of punk left in me is mightily confused. one of the more articulate anti-corporate bands from the U.S. is playing the most corporate chain of clubs in america? someone please explain that to me. does anyone have jello biafra's email address? i'd like the ethel merman of punk rock to explain it himself.
every time i have been to mandalay bay (which is unfortunately quite a few more times than once) ronnie james dio has been playing at the HOB that week. that makes sense. i can see that. this week instead of dio they had queensryche. but the dead kennedys? argh. next new model army will play there. mommy, make the bad man stop.
