I know this is going to sound weird, but i went to my first surprise wedding today. 2 good friends one is pretty damn sure he is getting married the other has no idea she is about to be proposed to and that her entire family, and 50 or so of her good friends are hiding quietly... at least mostly quiet if not a bit boozed up, 100 feet away in a tent just waiting eagerly for the intended bride and groom.
This was not a prank, but a carefully sculpted masterpiece of deceipt and love kept under wraps for over a month, in a town of normally 2200 or so people half of which are on vacation for off season. Rumors do not sit quietly on a shelf here, in fact one year myself and a few other friends started a rumour that neil diamond was going to play a free show in the park...lo and behold 2 days later it came back to me that neil diamond and an entire orchestra were playing in the park, for a meager $20 a ticket. I digress...after about 20 minutes of squashing the whispers and giggles , the groom to be announces loudly and with a wry smile that she said maybe...a joke of course all pored out of the tent big grins and loud cheers...again the bride to be has no idea that we are even there. It was priceless, a mix of bewilderment & joy splashed across her face with the warm sunny day beckoning a wedding.
more to come...
