Little-known movie worth seeing: Monster Man.
I saw it yesterday as part of a four-movie-showing of the local fantasy film festival. The other three movies ranged from the pretty good Haute Tension (French horror flick), over the mediocre Mindhunters (think Ten Little Indians with FBI agents) to the awful Cabin Fever (supposedly a horror movie). But the one that really stood out was Monster Man. Not because it's in any way deep or engaging, or even scary, despite some gory scenes. No, Monster Man gets points because it's just brilliantly funny.
The story is easily told: The nerdy leading man and his obnoxious, but endearing friend are on a road trip to a wedding, when they accidentally piss off the hideously deformed driver of a monster truck (or so it seems). When the truck starts following them, their troubles have only begun.
The brilliance is not in the mediocre plot, but in the hilarious over-the-top acting, such as the obnoxious friend urinating into the parked monster truck while its driver is away, or the protagonist stabbing someone with a sharpened pencil.
Best quote: "I was going to fuck my sister. Now what am I going to do?"
You'll get it when you see the movie .
