I've just heard the new Sam Roberts full length album! I'll admit straight out, his first couple of singles are shit. I really couldn't figure out what the big deal around this guy was!?!
Where did he come from and how could he have three huge radio singles, tour the country, front the covers of all major record magazines , and have yet to release his LP?
Then I had a really good listen to this guys album last night. Holly Shit! He plays all the instruments (excluding the kit) and still manages to write some incredible songs. He has a 2 minute and 42 second rocker on this new album called "On the Run" and it's incredible. Straight rock - no fucking around.
In the chorus he goes straight into screaming "I would die for Rock and Roll" "I would die for Rock and Roll" I love it! This led me into quite a drunken discussion last night. And so my question follows:
Part one - Would you die for Rock and Roll. Would you actually take the fall to save everything, true Rock and Roll stands for?
Part two - Would you secretly die for Rock and Roll? If someone came to you late one night (like the Rock and Roll fairy god mother) and told you if you choose to die for this, no one will ever know except little old you! Would you still go through?

Well, this is one of those morbid questions, like "Your mother, best friend n girlfriend are drowning. Who do you save? etcetc" so I'd have to say -- I need more evidence of what it IS exactly I'd be dying for, and what afterlife I'd be going TO if this is a deity talking to me... you know, I've paid some dues, in time and money and effort, to the cause of rock and roll so I could ask what rock n roll can do for ME, instead of the other way round...

Hmm...I'm not sure about this quezstion...conflicting thoughts and ideas running through my head...I have given my life to rock n' roll; I figure that's gotta count for something...
