So I think I've gained an addiction from this site. I have begun to sift through a good portion of the articles and interviews. Several, actually most, are quite good and definitely worth the read. The reason I bring this up is that I read one today that hit home. I believe it was with the comic artist Bill Willingham*, and he noted at the end, very casually, that The Suicide Girls site has become the modern day Playboy. I found myself completely in agreeance, but frustrated that the interview ended there. It was such a simple statement of fact that it almost passed through my mind without me really gleaning its value. However, it resonated and so here are my thoughts and a basic outline on a paper I will be writing shortly...due to my need to fulfill my writing requirements and my senseless love of American pop culture(I blame trivia.)

Basis of paper- Comparison and contrast of current SG culture and Playboy culture of the late 20th century...
Comparisons:
both have atracted readers to the current style and under pinnings of pop culture in America.
both have therefore begun to influence style and culture within America
both use/d current style and fashion trends of beauty and aesthetics to draw and captivate

Contrasts:
Playboy's storied history vs. SG's comparably almost overnight success
Contrast of society's progression in its acceptance of beauty standards, par exemple- difference in models, sets, and use of body art/tattoos/piercings/etc.
Contrast in use as a vehicle for social/political change

I will continue my research, because I really do love this site and the women here, but I'd like to hear any questions or comments any of you could add...especially with help for references....

Til next time my friends,
Peace love and balance to you all:-)
