2) Big transmissions like the NV4500 and 4L80E do not have provisions for mechanical speedometers in 2WD form. To "fix" this, you'll need the following:
--a) The VSSB or DRAC from a later GM truck or van. You can find them in junk yards for a fairly reasonable price... The internet and eBay are not particularly good sources (look to spend $100 online, vs. my $5 junk yard grab). This will need to be modified to fit your tire/gear selection.
--b) The RARE electronic speedometer from a GASOLINE (FUEL-INJECTED), *NOT* DIESEL 90 or 91 GM Blazer, Suburban, or HD Crew Cab P/U (the last of the box-style trucks), OR, an electronic speedo from a GM van to 95... You can replace the face on the van speedo with the face from your original truck speedo... There are even SOME (not all) van speedos w/ trip odometer that can be used with the truck speedo w/trip odometer faces (some trimming required to fit the extra odometer digit).
--c) The modification instructions and wiring diagrams can be found with a quick Google search. You'll need some basic skills (including board soldering) and tools to do the job, but you'll be able to retain your factory dashboard with factory style gauges and electronic cruise (mechanical cruise is a no-go) and even install anti-lock brakes, if you feel really ambitious.

teh needs a pity party.

before you get all offensive, hear me out.

***
teh's version of a pity party is when a group of people get together, and watch him get unbelievably drunk. this usually proves to be very entertaining for all, and provides great anecdotes for all to tell. the general gist of it is for me to get drunk, be baby-sat, and...

Where did you take those ruin pictures? I grew up in Joliet, (I escaped a few years ago, but I still have family there.), but I didn't recognize that place. Kinda looks like Pilcher Park. I just saw your profile on the forums.

i've been trying photograpy. it seems to be working for me. it's cheap, easy, fun, and might get me laid some day.

i put up new pics in "joliet and vicinity," "gary," and "cars."

the "joliet and vicinity" things are from various parks in joliet and lockport.

the "gary" pics are from a few weekends ago when NotoriusDUG and i went to gary,...

And I now have portable power for my lights, so we can/will have studio lighting wherever we go.
scarekrow:
I currently have one stand and a flash. It could certainly light up a good portion of the theater. Also, I can attach a power strip to the power, so if we wanted to hook up small flood lights or something, we could. It would just require a decent amount of crap to carry.

If you're interested in going this week, I'm free on Wednesday.
I don't have anything planned for Monday-Thursday next week.
