Yet another house party last night, and I'm paying for it this morning. So much Whiskey...
I was all set to have a productive day off, sort out the mess that I live in and do some washing when I get a text from an old friend who's in town for the day asking me to lunch. He comes over and we smoke a spliff and then I'm too chilled out to want to anything productive. We head into town in the rain and of all the possible places to eat we pick an all you can eat chinese buffet. I blame the smoke for this desicion. I'm trying to slim down a bit at the moment, deep fried everything is probably not the best way to go about it. But it was enjoyable, although there was very limited choice for vegaterians so I couldn't try lots of different stuff. I think the killer was the ice cream machine and chocolate fondue, I really over did it and ended up feeling a bit sick and no longer high. Ouch.
Stopped at another friend's house for a cup of tea on the way home and had a good chat. This particular friend is a bit of an artist and she wants me to pose for her to life draw from. I'm up for it, but not sure if I can stay still for very long. I like to fidgit. When we do it I'll take a photo of the end result and put it up on here if she'll let me
Also got talking about the dutch oil company Shell and the mess they've made of Nigeria. I've promised her I'll write an article on it for her, she runs the british branch of an African chairity and publishes a newsletter with lots of different issues that are separate from her charity's focus in it, more for raising awareness than anything.
Then it was out to the party, which was pretty low key but nice because you get to chat to everyone easier at smaller gathering. There were the usual music arguments. People are so snobby about thier music tatse nowadays. Why is it that people who tend to like alternative form of music are so opinionated and judgemental of other people's tatse? I'd never turn off someone else's choice, even if it annoyed me. We all just love showing off our knowledge by slagging off other people's preference. Does arguing make people feel better about themselves? I just feel irritated if someone tries to have a go about my music. I swear all these "music lovers" hate more music than they like. Embrace a little bit.
Loving Dillinger four at the moment, the music and the lyrics are awesome to me. I can't wait for thier UK tour this winter. I'm going to leave you with the words to "Who didn't kill Bambi?" an old one but one of the best.
You know your eyes say it's dead inside of you
Just and empty shell with faded tattoos
And everything's just a memory
And every day is just a passing of time
You used to be a time bomb
Did you notice when the lights started to go out
Welcome it with a smile and your arms out
And now it's all so much easier
Bury yourself in banality and comfort
Never waking for a moment
We are alive
And just like the sun will kill the night
We bring the change to something new
Cos we know change threatens you
And there's nothing left of you to save
And each step forward that you take
Is just one closer to the grave
You let the years go by, an endless parade
As meaningless as the promises you've made
And you'll wonder where it all went
When the last of your effort is spent
And you're still left hollow
Will you watch all your life from the outside
Will you march to then end placid and paralyzed
Or will you take it in one shot without a chaser
And let go

Dillinger Four are touring? I'll have to keep an eye out for if they play up here. Like Sprewells On A Wheelchair is one of my favourite songs
