i'm moving into a new apartment on february 1st, excited to be living by myself for the first time in a year. i'm kind of a clean freak and i've never had a roommate with the same standards as myself in that area. no pets, no girlfriends, just me. i'll still probably keep in touch with the old roomie, maybe hit the gym with him a couple times a week. i've never played racketball or squash before, and they both look like seriously fun workouts. i made a new friend recently who is an excellent chef, he'll probably cruise by on occasion and we'll throw down with some experimental cooking and baking. i have a dishwasher, which is new for me. i'll likely start a cooking blog somewhere around february 16th, i'll make sure to post a link to it here. it will also be nice to know, when i'm out and about, that i can take a date or a fling back to my place. my place.
on with the job hunt, and back to the poker table soon. up to santa fe sometime in february to teach my aunt how to make pasta and pesto sauce. when it warms up to 65 or 70 in albuquerque, i'm gonna' start hiking the local mountain trail on the weekends. and swimming outside at the gym. i got another friend who wants to sell me his back-up bike cheap, so i'll probably take him up on that and start taking advantage of the picturesque trails on the other side of town. i'm also getting directv and a dvr, which will be new experiences for me. i like the idea of being able to fast forward through commercials and record movies when i'm not home or while i'm watching something else. damn thing is cool, i can scan the daily schedule and record up to three different shows at once. or watch one and record two others. high definition to boot.
i've got three mexican/native american woven rugs that i'll be hanging from the walls at the new place. anybody ever done that before? i'm not sure how to do it without damaging them. the first one seems a little satanic to me, but it's really a harvest theme. i think. well, smells like the red peppers are done roasting, so i better go steam and peel them. football BBQ tomorrow with bratwursts, chicken, peppers and onions, spinach salad and hummus.
