Got into a fight with the under-boss today because I asked him to do his job and count down the drawer. Twice. This after two times of him fucking up with beast-who-won't-be-named working and having money missing with me biting the bullet at the end.
I can't stand this fucking incompetence. The guy is my friend, really, but I can't lose my job because he can't be bothered to do his. The only thing I can do is refuse to work the drawer if he refuses to follow through on his obligations as assistant manager. It's goddamned pathetic. Lucky for me he's not a very good debater (as I am terrible at confrontation) and the end result of all argument is evasion on his part.
I don't think it's particularly unreasonable for me to try and protect myself from the owner's daughter thieving what she can from where she can but I can't exactly count down the drawer myself i.e. if I have access to the drawer and it comes up short the blame is consequently shared between me and the beast. We consequently both have access to the drawer if I count it myself. This requires a manager to SHOW UP ON TIME and DO THEIR FUCKING JOB.
I will not get fucked into remaining in Georgia for a minute longer on the basis of managerial laziness. There's nobody to really approach about this so I pretty much have to solve things myself. My current strategy being, again, refusal to work an uncounted, unattended drawer. Counting the drawer means nothing if she can still walk in, open it and grab a handful of bills. This is another feature he doesn't quite seem to grasp. I am so tired of the foolishness that has no consequence for the fool. It's like someone forgetting about a condom and putting fault on the STD for doing what you know its' going to do.
I also did some research on wrongful termination and in this case a lawsuit would be very unlikely to succeed. Especially in the state of... goddamn it... georgia... where there are no additional protections offered to workers beyond a few national laws and precepts. They would, however, be required to pay me unemployment as there is no definitive proof of theft on my part. But again, a lawyer would probably be required along with an extended stay in this fucking place.
God I fucking hate it here... I swear the stupidity is contagious and it spreads directly from the elderly. If I don't get out of here soon I'm going to burn down a nursing home and stab that bitch in the face.
