watching one's heart beat on a monitor in black and white is a truly humbling experience. i was lying there, for what i thought was going to be a much more gruelling test, i lay there for an hour watching the valves open and close.
i was awed, scared, and competely engrossed by what was going on, on that computer monitor.
when i arrived home, we found the blood tests they took on wednesday were all fine. and now it's up to the echocardiogram and the holter monitor (should i have to wear one).
to think that this small muscle is what keeps me alive, with all of the valves opening and closing seemingly without purpose ....
scares the shit out of me.

I'm quite happy about that, all things considered. I hope I never have to. I'm convinced there are going to be batteries, a pull-cord, and maybe some helium.
While in university, my gf had to see somebody else's insides. She still thinks it was astonishingly neat. I cringe and cower like a schoolchild even thinking about it.
I'm such a sissy.
I hope everything turns out just fine and everything is okay with your pull-cord.
