So, the district manager came into our store today. keep in mind what a big head hauncho he is -- in charge of most of the stores in the st. louis region. I knew how much his visit meant to our brand new store manager and how much they freak out when things like this happen -- they frantically try to get the store in better shape; appearence wise and such. To make a long story short? I totally kissed the district manager's ass. I introduced myself, saying I had been working there for a little over a year (not a lie) and said I "couldn't imagine being anywhere else." i told him he looked familiar to me, and he smiled and said "well, some people say i look like a movie star." I grinned and said "yeah, I can definitely see that." The store manager and the DM totally hovered over my shoulder for fifteen minutes, so I totally made a show out of making polite conversation with the customers, asking if they had found everything, blah blah blah. I was all smiles and grins and giggles when it was neccessary. Mr. Coke (the Store manager) started bragging about how I had won the suggestive sales contest two months in a row (um yeah...I work like 35+ hours a week, an IDIOT could win that) and I pretended to not hear them, though inside I was beaming sort of.
As they started to walk away, the DM went to Mr. Coke, "That service clerk, Danielle, she really is something."
"Yeah, she can be a handful."
"I wish all employees had that energy."
Hahahah. Energy my ass. Working all those days and then doing fifteen credit hours, plus piling on homework and a few hours for sleeping. Yeah...I've energy. Beh.
The DM left an hour later and there was a sigh of relief from all the employees. I left like collapsing on the counter. We got good store reviews though, which is always good, and he was most impressed with our staff. thank god he doesn't come in all the time, i'd be dead. i mean...i work hard to begin with, of course, it's just hard to put on that show for so long.
I may start working in the pharmacy again. I enjoyed working back there, yet it was hard, staying in that tiny space for so many hours. I don't know. I can't wait for my LPN. Can't wait to have an actual career.
I'm beat. Tomorrow will consist of more studying, more working. Right now I need...I don't know. Maybe an Atavan (haven't taken that in years.) to relieve this anxiety. I'm so tired physically, yet so awake...
