My copy of Word has apparently expired. Which pains the hell out of me because i really, really need to write something. Might bust something out on here later if i have to that will not have the benefit of editing or major thought.
Might be going to SF in a few hours, depends on who gives me a ride or when they get back to me or whatever. The whole problem with plans, by the way, is they always seem to change just enough to make me scramble. Apologies to everyone put out. It will be made up. If something does(n't) happen & i don't end up in SF with my dear friends, have fun, & we'll get together when you guys get back. But i'm working on it. Call me if interested, i'll spring for some gas.
My computer is slowly dying, & it fucking sucks.
Listened to the White Album a little while ago. Still think it's the biggest mixed bag the Beatles ever put put, but the good is GREAT. The first half is amazing, outside of fucking "Bungalow Bill" & "Rocky Raccoon." Forgot how much i love "Happiness is a Warm Gun" & "I'm So Tired," i guess since i haven't listened to it in almost a year. Great stuff, at least half.
So a few years ago in Redlands, i spent $20 on the solo Robert Plant anthology. I really don't know why, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. Listened to it maybe ten times since. It really isn't that bad, listening to it again now. I mean, it isn't great, but it isn't bad. The '80s stuff is VERY dated, & it kinda sucks when he tried to sample "Black Dog" on one, because he sounded SO much better then, but it isn't terrible. And it has the Honeydrippers version of "Sea of Love," which i guess counts as a guilty pleasure, & i have this thing where i consider "29 Palms" a good song even though it probably isn't. The second disc is pretty cool, though, because it's all unreleased demos & stuff from his entire career, a couple pre Zeppelin. Really interesting, & far better than the later stuff. Plant with synthesizers just rubs me the wrong way, i guess.
In keeping with the whole "busted out albums i haven't listened to in awhile but was up all night & bored & will now bore you" direction this has taken, I keep forgetting that i really don't like Velvet Underground's "Loaded." i mean, i love "Sweet Jane", but the rest is pretty bleh. I've been told it was intentionally made accessible, basically "loaded" with radio friendly shit. Some Lou Reed "fuck you" to everyone. I swear, i'd probably hate him if i met him, but he's so much of a dick i love him. But the album is just too...un-dark. VU are supposed to be seedier, a little more raw.
I always wished i'd had a big sister. I don't know why. Just seems like it'd be cool.
Eh, i'm done.
