Got back to Sacramento Sunday afternoon, then got to hang out with catagogo & Absinthe Sunday night. That was interesting, wish i had been in a better mood. But we saw "Borat" again, so i can't complain terribly. But should Absinthe be reading, i'd definitely like to apologize if i seemed at all not fun or otherwise unenjoyable. But Friday, plan is to hang out with a friend of mine, get dinner or something along those lines. It's looking like a rather slow week. I need more to do.
Film Genre was interesting, as we went into racial humor. We watched "Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle." The whole racial humor thing was fascinating, though, as far as how people's minds work in the class. The chick who wouldn't let her kids watch Disney movies because they allegedly are racist was scary. Something about how all the evil characters are always darker than the good characters...which of course has no artistic meaning or anything. The example she gave was "Lion King," which was lost on me since. I mean, worst case scenario the kid thinks Jeremy Irons is evil, or at least cartoon lions voiced by Jeremy Irons are evil. She also mentioned "Little Mermaid," but unless i'm remembering wrong, the bad guy was a fat white chick who was half octopus. Actually, the more i think about it, Sebastian was a typical Jamaican stereotype, & Flounder was the uncool white guy. This all lead to "Beauty & the Beast," which i STUPIDLY thought was about not judging people by appearances. I mean, fuck, Belle would rather bang the Beast than bang Gaston, because while he was better looking he was an asshole. That's a valuable lesson that kids to learn about. The class went on like this for an hour, then we watched the movie (which was actually not bad, if a little overrated).
I was thinking, though. As my MP3 player is essentially dead, i miss having music around. I got to thinking about that one day a month or so ago when i was listening to "Street Hassle" & watching the leaves fall with the song's intro. It was spectacular. So, because i let my mind wander far too much, the all time top five best things i've ever seen in person.
5.) Driving through Hollywood a few years back when i was in Redlands. Outside Grauman's, people hang out dressed as various characters from movies & TV shows. Shows this perfectly in "Borat." On this trip, a guy was dressed as Homer Simpson, complete with a large plastic donut. My good friend & ex roommate Jon yelled out of the moving car, "Stop eating, Homer, you fat fuck!" Then when we reached Grauman's on foot, he apologized to poor Homer. It was pretty surreal.
4.) The Who at the Hollywood Bowl. Best show i've ever been to. Something about the way the sky changed from day to night during the course of the show was amazing. And the stars seemed brighter during "See Me, Feel Me." I don't care how that sounds.
3.) This one girl at my first high school dance. Like, wow. This is a different story for a different time. But still...never been so enamoured as i was that night. I miss being that age, for the most part.
2.) End of my sophomore year, seeing Junior Christina Fernandez, tanned skin shining in the Lake County sun, lounging around in a gloriously small sun dress. She was eating a banana. Burned in my memory forever.
1.) Listening to "Street Hassle," watching the leaves. I can't put into words how fucking cool that was. Just seemed so perfect.
I enjoy these lists. Easy to read, simple to do, & make me feel like John Cusack, which is always a perk. I'll not do any more because it'll slowly end up looking like a MySpace game.
So, i'm horrifically bored, & need to do something. Help me. Seriously. I can only sit through "Dog the Bounty Hunter" so many fucking times before i begin to forget how to hold a conversation.
Anyway, i'm ending this now. If you want to get me something for Christmas, give me Zooey Deschanel, or a reasonable facsimile. I'm not kidding. I need something purdy & smart.
Later.
