I have put some serious time in thinking about this. I love to travel and one of the rules that I have placed on this was that I would not travel to a foreign country unless I have a simple familiarity with the home language. I speak English, learned Spanish and a little German in school. I learned a few basic phrases in Italian for my wife and I promised to get better at it after her passing. Now that I am older and I have a lot more free time on my hands, it is time that I get serious about this again. I am a big fan of Google Translate but those that know me ... know that I want to learn without having to use a "crutch". There are two places in the world that I am very interested in visiting ... Italy and Russia. I would very much like to go back to Australia and Germany because there are so much I have not seen. So what should my next challenge be ??? Russian or Italian??

@Jases They both sound beautiful. I have a rule ... I try to have a basic understanding of the language before traveling there. After this whole pandemic is over Italy or Russia are my top places to travel to

This is a really great idea. I also dream to start traveling after the end of the pandemic
