Photo update!
I was asked to provide some pics for a Scandinavian Tattoo magazine and since I haven't done any photos for a long while I decided to do a fresh batch of myself. Here are a few of the resulting images (taken in my living room)...
and the beginnings of my sleeve done by Mr_Reliable
Speaking of that guy, he came home in the middle of me doing this so I grabbed him for a couple of shots:
(aww, aren't we cute?)
Back to the regular blog...
I haven't had much to say on here lateley. I've barely even been shooting for the site. I guess I'm frustrated at the rejection rate so I am being MUCH more selective with who I shoot and it seems to be helping the odds although I don't submit nearly as many sets these days. Most of the sets I've shot will probably not see the light of day here for over a year anyway! There are so many sets I'm proud of and can't wait to go live.
In other news, I got fired from that photo job because of the pictures you saw in my last journal entry. Well, that wasn't the only reason but the photographer was this "rock star" photographer they bring up from LA and pay like $30,000/week to (I'm estimating here) who apparently didn't dig working with me all that much. He needs a team of minions around him that are just waiting on his every breath to read his mind and bring him whatever he may need without being asked. He likes to have assistants who's only goal in life is to be an assistant. Those kind of photographers don't like assistants who want to be commercial photographers themselves. He didn't like that I brought my camera on set but never told me and didn't tell anyone else until way later. He asked them not to bring me back apparently. It's OK though, I wouldn't want to work with him again anyway. I have gotten other gigs since, like with Old Navy and other companies. I think it was time for me to move on and it was a good kick in the pants to do so.
I've been shooting a lot of personal work lately too. Here are a couple of shots I did of this amazing model on location in SF.
I just did another shoot with a Look Model Agency model so I'll post some of those soon too. Hopefully I'll be working with Look on shooting their new models for their portfolios and getting paid for it.
I also finally got my sleeve started by the amazingly talented and ever so handsome Mr_Reliable at Spider Murphy's Tattoo. Right now it's just outlines of a hula girl and palm tree but it's going to be a whole Polynesian/Tiki themed sleeve and I am very excited about it. I'll post pictures when I get some color put in it next week. I can't wait for it to be done already! Matt's gotten so good it's ridiculous.
I hope you all had a fabulous Halloween and wish me luck in the search for more assisting work in the fashion photography field! If any of you know of a commercial photographer who needs an assistant let me know! I'm ready to fly to New York or Paris to work with some real fashion photographers.
