Sweet, virtuous mother of Christ. i am finally back on my own computer again. How I have missed her! The problem? Getting a USB network adapter that works on a Mac. Finally found one at Best Buy where they now sell Macs?! Never though I'd see the day. I had been using the CrapTop™ that Mattie so graciously donated to my cause. But if I moved with it, the power would cut off. Portable, no. I couldn't even cough when it was on my lap. I did manage to use it to find a job!
I'm employed! The rumors are true. "What do you do, Tawnya?" You might ask me in person. I would then hem and haw for a bit. It's impossible to answer with anything besides 'personal assistant.' But I think that makes it sound like I give hand jobs to hobos all day. And that didn't pay well. Hobos are some broke-ass bitches. I am the assistant / worker bee for a guy who sells shoes on eBay. That's more enticing than it sounds, with my love of footwear. It's all Nikes. I am resting my morals on the fact that we are bottom feeders and Nike is actually losing money thanks to me and my boss(es). I spend time wrapping packages, organizing storage and entering things on the computer. He's one of the top sellers on eBay, so it's shocking how far he got with only one assistant. It's a very nerdy office and the guys I work with are fun, funny and worry that they're working me too hard. I also get paid a very fair wage and can work as much as my little heart desires. I also get to listen to anything I want, which makes all tasks at least manageable, if not enjoyable. He even buys our lunches.
I'm almost settled in here. A few more things to unpack, but they're chilling in their respective boxes until I need them. Living with Mattie is just as much fun as I'd hoped. Together, we are never bored. And there's the mutual love of beauty day, facials and masks, ahoy! Life is super awesome, even though I am more sad than I can express about not being able to make it to Hopey's wedding. I had been hanging so much on that trip, but between it being preceded by my first week at work and the lack of cash that I was suffering from, I just couldn't. Seriously heartbroken about not being there to see one of my 'desert island' people wed the love of her life and so many of my Seattle friends. Who knows when I'll get to see them all together again? Maybe never. Unless I win the lottery I never play and put all the awesome people on my island. The chances are slim, indeed.
