Okay. So. I finally get up and decide to go to the beach. I look up how to get to the beach, put on swim shorts, t-shirt, sandals, carry a beach bag. Well, I underestimated how long it would take to walk to the beach. Because by the time I got there, my feet had little cuts on them from the sandal straps rubbing against them.
AND THEN!
The beach is empty. Some people are hanging out by the bathrooms, and there's just the two lifeguards on the sand. I start walking toward the water, dripping sweat, feet cut, when the lifeguard tells me the beach is closed. "Bacteria in the water" or some bullshit. IT'S THE LAKE!! OF COURSE THERE'S GONNA BE BACTERIA, FISH PISS AND DIE IN THERE!!
This was at the 31st street beach. I was told the 12th street beach was open, so I start walking. Why not take a bus, you ask. Well I was at a part of Lake Shore Drive that didn't have bus stops. Unless it did and I'm just a moron. Regardless, I ditched the sandals and kept walking. It didn't hurt anymore, it was just really hot.
So 19 blocks later, I get to the 12th street beach. By that time, clouds had rolled in. And the wind had kicked up. So when I reached the water, I only barely got in because it was freezing cold. I figured I'd wait 'til the clouds left so the water could warm up. Well, that never happened. There were maybe 5-minute periods of sunshine, but between that were random cloudbursts and otherwise shitty weather.
I caught a bus back by the Adler Planetarium. And now my feet are sore, cut, blistered and callused .
So needless to say, today was no "day at the beach"
