I was born in 1978. I grew up mostly in the 80's and 90's. The difference between that world and the state of the world today is staggering.
Sure, there were threats to the US, but they were quickly silenced because we were a nation to be feared. People lived their lives without fear that the building they worked in, the places they shopped, or their homes were in danger of being blown up. We weren't worried that some psychopath was going to walk into a movie theater and open fire.
I want to have hope for the future of the world, but it's so fucking hard when I can barely go a week without some kind of senseless tragedy happening.
I'm just sad. Not for myself, but for the children that have such an uncertain future if things like this continue to happen. I don't wanna bring a child into THIS world. It wouldn't be fair to them.
I'm not smart enough to know what can fix this. I wish I was. I wish SOMEONE was. I'll keep having hope until it's impossible to do so....
