"there is freedom within, there is freedom without, try to catch the deluge in a paper cup...."
So the audition for a 2nd guitarist last night was not by the book persay. The guy, Joey, showed up late thanks to the stupid Californai traffic (he live 20 minutes away). He played one song with us and we were 100% sure we wanted him. The guy has some serious talent and we would be VERY lucky to have him in our band. We extended the offer officially to join our band and instead of him saying yes, he said he wanted to jam with us some more (?) Needless to say that was a major kick in our nuts and we think he might be TOO good a musician to play with us. I don't sell myself short. I know I have some serious fucking skills as do my bandmates but this guy is like in a different ozone layer and we are pretty sure he knows it and he might be taking a step down to play with us. He has never been in an actual band though, so I am thinking he may be one of those closet virtuosos that just lights up the living room but never shines onstage.
Joey, PLEASE join our band!!!!!
Wifey is feeling much better and to the best of my knowledge has not thrown up once this week and has held down every meal.
The ER finale last night was intense.....
Anyone besides me avioiding the mutiplexes this weekend amid the deluge of folks to see the Davinci Code?
a weird anecdote. We were sitting in Costco the other night and I heard a song that just put me into tears as it was "our song" from a previous relationship that I have never recovered from (she passed away). I love music, it's my life, but isn't it just cruel sometimes how one song can either make your day or completely destroy it? For those who care, the song was "Hard to Say I'm Sorry" by Chicago. Say what you will about my musical taste but that song has the power to reduce me to a puddle. Which leads me to this.....
Songs that make me cry.... - :
1) On top of the World - Carpenters
2) Tiny dancer - Elton John
3) Stay - Shakespeare's Sister
4) Somebody to Love - Queen
5) Woman - John Lennon
6) Forever - The Beach Boys
I'll stop there. There are more, but I'll end it on that for now.
(edited) ---> DUDE!!?? I just saw a commercial for the HUEY LEWIS & THE NEWS - GREATEST HITS CD/DVD coming out May 23rd! Oh man, I am SOOOO fucking on that shit! Those guys rock! (am i waxing nostalgic or have I lost my fucking mind?)
Lyrics to my newest song (should be up on the band's myspace page sometime today. It's a shitty garage recording, but the song is kick ass. I wrote it, so YES, I am fucking biased).
"THE KILLER IN ME"
Demons in my head
Trying to have their say
The beast inside me is coming out
He's going to rule the day
The killer in me is dying to get out
Don't get in my way
Run for cover, I'm your black hearted lover
Live another day
What have I become now?
have I lost my mind?
Am I a man? or am I a monster?
How many bodies will you find?
The killer in Me is dying to get out
Don't get in my way
Run for cover, I'm your black-hearted lover
Live another day
I despise these things that I'm thinking
My hands are blood-stained red
This world is evil, black and empty
Everyone I know will soon be dead
The killer in Me is dying to get out
Don't get in my way
Run for cover, I'm your black-hearted lover
Live another day
I've lost all touch with reality
The Devil's taken control
I've lived my dreams of murder, death, and destruction
Hell has eaten my soul
The killer in Me is dying to get out
Don't get in my way
Run for cover, I'm your black hearted lover
Live another day

I'm not seeing The Davinci Code until I read the book. I got it for Christmas, but I also got some Hunter S. Thompson, and he comes first.
Totally going to see The DaVinci Code sometime next week. (LOVE THE BOOK but I'm worried the movie will totally suck!)
Chicago is an awesome band so you can say all you want about them.
There are way too many songs that make me cry to even start a list.
Hewey Lewis and The News are AWESOME
Good luck with getting the guitar player
Let me know when the new song is on Myspace. I requested your band's friendship the other day.
I still have the ER finale on tape. Haven't seen it yet since we've been very busy moving in. (Eh, who'm I kidding, it's mostly because I've been catching up with the computer lol.)
I'm glad your wife is feeling better. Morning sickness totally sucks!
Did I miss anything? Oh yeah, just "Hi, how are ya?" and
