This weekend was ridiculous...
ok so friday night, matt and I went to go see the Unseen, Global Threat, and our friends' band Time Again at the troubadour in Hollywood. As we drove past the venue, there was seriously a glacier of punkrock kids just in full fucking force taking over two lanes of traffic,basically cause there was no more sidewalk space...the show was sold out so a good number of the kids that were there didn't even have tickets to get in.
we saw some more people from the label so we went and hung out with them because it was definitly goin to be sometime before we actually got inside, and Time Again was still doing soundcheck...the *CRASH, BANG,SIREN*...the kids started to rush the door to get in...while they did this, a metal fence fell over, (leave it to mattious to pick it up....all the while I'm like..."no matt! don't get involved!!" ...we don't have bail money at the moment)...and just as this is happening, a cop cruises by, and stops, gets out...and all hell breaks loose...
I go up to the ticket booth to snag my epitaph tickets, and the Box Office Chick is totally freaking out on her cell phone...she tells me "we're cancelling the show..the cops are here!!". she gives me my tickets and VIP stickers anyway, and runs inside, shutting off the B.O. lights and closing the blinds.
The kids were getting WAYY out of control at this point, they were shafting the building and yelling "RIOT !!! RIOT!!!!!" Some kids starting to circle pit and tosh kids around...then the cops get on the horn and announce that the show was NOT happening and to get lost...so we just hang out ,telling them that we were with the label ...so the cops didn't bother us...
But then MORE cops started to come...matt counted 10 cruisers and 2 CHIPS...then some kid broke a window, and 4 cops rush him..and slam him to the fucking ground..I seriously saw them bang his head off the concrete like 4 times...when he got up, his face was totally fucked up!!! blood EVERYWHERE!!!!! and the sad thing is this kid couldn't have been more than 15!!! then more kids started to get fucked up...they cops had mace and bean bag guns and so they tried to start rangling the kids..the kids take off in all directions...cops running after them! THEY SHUT DOWN THE WHOLE BLOCK!! THE BLOCKED TRAFFIC IN BOTH DIRECTIONS ON SANTA MONICA BLVD!!!!!
So we all see Mark from the Unseen, and he says to the police, and people working the venue that he knew us and let us in...so we go into the troubadour, and there's more epitaph people, groupies, roadies, and band members inside...we just stood there and watched as the news showed up...then Brian from Time Again comes in and tells us that they arrested and beat the crap out of Daniel (the lead singer)..I was seriously shocked...these boys are the nicest sweetest kids in the world...and wouldn't start shit....Brian said that Daniel even had his hands in the air when the cops came up on him...but they still kept up the shit...We couldn't even breath in the front bar from all the unnessesary mace and tear gas that was in the air...I had to go out back. Brian took off his shirt to start packing up the rest of the equipment and his back was so welted from the bean bag gun I couldn't even beleive it!!!! poor guys...we helped them load up the rest of the stuff...
when it was finally save to leave the building, fox news showed up...live. I was glad that my car was still in check, cause those kids DESTROYED everything in their path...
Matt and I feel so lucky to have been there...I wish that no one had gotten hurt and I wish the best to my boys from Time Again, and the Unseen...but seriously PUNK ROCK IS still alive in LA and that makes us feel so giddy!..It's usually run by fashionestas that don't dance and don't care about the music...but last night was true PUNKROCK agression and it was an amazingly refreshing moment ....maybe LA's not so bad at all...

Damn... now aint that the shit that closed so many venues to oi and punk shows back when? Still would have been a hell of a time to watch or get a little involved with until the bruisers show up. I've had my fair share of fun, but not in attempts of rioting, heh, we chased Lars and his Bastards out of Italy, that was funny.
