hey peeps, back from Cornwall after a break with my mum and sister for my mums birthday. I thought I'd let you know how I got on and I'll post pictures another time as soon as Pete puts them on a cd for me hehe!
OMG I got up at like 6.10am this morning and it was pitch black, someone could've told me it was midnight and I would've believed them and gone back to sleep!
Ok so my break:
Thursday: Had a 1/2 day at work and spent a couple of hours in the city with my mum, then met Pete and we went to watch Death Race - it was fab! We were the only people in the cinema up until about 10 mins into the film and we were going to have a play but we couldn't grrr late people!!
Friday: Left off in the morning after introducing my mum to my dragon! Frist stopped at Brentwood to see my aunt who was recently diagnosed with bowel cancer and has had all the things removed and is proudly telling everyone that she has a tattoo in her bowel. We also saw my uncle who is currently obsessed with photography! It was great to see them because I don't really get the chance a lot unless they come to Norwich to see my cousin.
After seeing them we carried on to Cornwall and got to the Cornish Arms in St Blazey at about 7pm. The pub is gorgeous, also haunted! Emily and Mark the owners are really nice as well and they have two dogs, one corgi cross jack russell called Bella who is so dignified you'd think she was the queen herself and Kye who is a 6month old german shepherd crossed with a mongrel of sorts. He's at the stage where he has the giant head and paws, but skinny everything else!! They were both so well behaved i couldn't believe it!
Sat: After a yummy breakfast we headed to the Eden Project, now I'm not a big gardener, I appreciate the beauty of flowers and I'd love to be self seficiant (sp), but I just don't have time and I live with petes mum so i don't think she'd appreciate me building a giant cold frame in the back of her garden. Anyway I adored Eden, its amazing how they've created it, there are just layers and layers of plants and veg and herbs and stuff! We spent a good half a day wandering around all the domes, taking in the exhibitions, eatting cream teas and listening to a band made up of like 8 people whose instrutments were all made out of rubbish, it was cool. Another fab reason to go to the Eden project is that if you gift aid you entry fee the charity get an extra % from the government and so they get more money, but to no extra cost to you, and if you gift aid it you get a 12 month membership card which means you can come as many times as you want over the next year at no extra cost!
By the end of our visit to Eden it was raining quite hard, but we hadn't noticed because there is so much to do, but we decided to go into Charlestown and then St Austell. Charlestown was a cool little harbour town that had quite a lot to see, but when we were to St Austell we couldn't find anything to look at and it was still peeing it down with rain so we popped into tescos to buy some late lunch and munchies then went back to the b&b for a nap!
That night we watched a group called Sargent Rock who sang lots of classic rock tunes. I was a tad worried that my mum would hate it but it turns out she remembered most of the songs when they first came out so she was happily singing along! After 7 jacks and coke we went to bed.
Sunday: With a slightly heavy head we got up and saw that bugger me it was raining again, if I could've raised my hand without thinking that I was going to fall over and go back to sleep I would've shaken it at the sky, but I didn't, I just kept thinking dry up dry up.
We went to the lost gardens of Heligan and walked around for ages! Past mud monsters and grey ladies, super secret ninja sheep and about a foot away from a HUGE black cow. We birdwatched and squirrel watched and explored the beautiful gardens, I can imagine that this is a place that my mum would love to work, bless her. The sun finally showed its face as we were leaving and so we decided to explore some of the little villages around Heligan. First stop Mevagissy (how cool is that name!) we wandered through tiny streets, past shops and cafes and we came to a pirate shop! It was so cool - all the employees were dressed up in pirate outfits and they were game enough to have a picture taken with my works bear hehe! I brought myself some elbow length fingerless gloves and I got Pete a tshirt, then we wandered round the harbour, then round some other shops and back to an "alternative" shop. It was fab, i felt so at peace in there it was incredible! I also text twotoast to gloat about the sun hehe!
After that we went to a little beach next to it, but the sand wasn't normal sand it was made up of quartz and shell! We wandered around there for a while until we saw the tide was coming in and so we made our way back to the pub.
I decided that I wanted to take some pictures of the church, I'm not religious in that sort of way, i have my beliefs but it doesn't involve jesus and one god, but I love the architechural beauty of churches and catherdrals, so off I went in my new pirate gloves and skull scarf and wandered up to the church. I knew that there was something on, but I didn't think anyone would be there yet, i was wrong, I pushed open the squeaky gate and there stood two women who were obviously church helpers or something. I went in, smiled at them and started snapping away, I walked around the graveyard - i was careful not to step on anyone and when I came back, bugger me if there weren't like 15 people waiting to come in. So I plastered a smile on my face and walked through them without making eye contact!!
Monday: Got up early and packed up the car, had a super yummy breakfast and then set off, first stop was Stonehenge which I love! We met up with one of my old work colleagues and his family and we had a coffee and I ran around with their 2 year old looking at birds and telling off the mud for being dirty. She's so cute and has a fabulous laugh hehe! Then after saying our goodbyes we made our way to Brentwood, spent a couple of hours with my aunty and uncle and then continued to Norwich. We finally pulled up at my house at about 8.30pm and I was exhausted! As soon as Pete was home we had a super long hug and after I had a hot bath we went to bed.
Tuesday: This was the last day my mum was down so we let her decide what she wanted to do and we ended up at Sea Pauling walking on the beach, it was nice and relaxing and not too hot and not too cold, after that we went to the lighthouse inn and had something yummy for lunch, said our goodbyes to my mum and then went home. That night I went to college, but my head wasn't really in it, I got through it though pensions and donations and extending tax bands are fun!
Ok so pictures soon!!!

ironically enough i got some cat ears too when i was at the Halloween shop. i actually wore them this past weekend and the funny thing is no one even asked why i had them on hehe i guess i'm crazy enough that people just kind of expect that kind of thing from me a few weeks before Halloween
