So last night I went out with a bunch of my family some of whom I haven't seen in a couple of years. Its crazy but I get nervous around them, I think its because I'm ashamed of my fat bod and the fact that they are all so out going and I'm well, not really. So anyway my sister and I met up and then we met up with my essex family, we had a drink and caught up on stuff, I let everyone else talk and put on my waitress persona which was the smile, nod, throw in a few wow really? Noooo, Oh my god and giggles. I found it really easy to talk to my aunt because she looks just like my mum and has the same mannerisms which was cool.
Later the welsh bunch turned up and we went inside (it had started getting cold) and we had some wine. I had 2 glasses and got a bit woozy (yup lightweight!) but then I realised that I'd only had a small lunch and this wine was quite strong.
Again we all caught up and everyone was asking me for gossip and I was just like, to be honest all I do is work, work and study so there isn't really anything interesting about my life. But it turns out that I'm the only accountant person in the UK family and they all wanted to hear about what I'd learnt and stuff. Which was cool and weird. They asked me what my plans were in the future and I told them that if Pete and I decided to move to NZ I'd have to train to become and auditor because thats what they're looking for. Well my family loved this and it turns out I ahve some 2nd cousins out there (lol who doesn't!) and one of them owns a honey business and it just so happens that he's in the UK for 2 years expanding the business! Well my uncle Simon was in his element, he was ordering Caroline to get me his email address and to tell him how I was interested in meeting him etc. Which was cool, I was so touched! I do now need to tell my mum my plans incase one of them mention it before I do. But if my 2nd cousin decides that he has a job for me out there it would make things 100% easier because Pete and I will both have jobs AND we'd have a family sponsor!
So anyway 2 glasses of wine and some chats on how auditors are hated later we decide to go and eat, I picked Nandos even though I've never been and it was super yummy! I didn't realise that you had to order at the till because as I said before I'd never been there before, so I explained the menu to some of my family who just didn't get it then pulled out my trusty note pad and took food and drinks orders for my table of 8! It was great fun and they all thought it was hilarious at how efficient I was. I'm surprised it went so smoothly actually because the wine was having a woozy effect on me. So I went and ordered and was armed with an uncle on each side and bloody hell they refused to let me contribute any money towards anything. How generous are my family?! They told me to "put my money away and to sit down!" Lol bless, it was nice to be taken care off. So in return for not paying for anything I gave my cousins my email address and said that if they needed any help doing research for any of their up and coming projects to drop me a line and I'd be happy to help.
After lots of desserts and coffee we finally left nandos, my cousin took a load of pics (grr), there were lots of hugs and requests for us to go and visit in Wales and Essex, then we all went our seperate ways. I feel like I want to be closer to my family but I never knew how, if that makes sense, but now I'm older I think that this might be the right time to do it! Yay!
My doctor has said that I need to stay on my meds now until I feel normal again. I told her that I didn't know what normal was and she laughed at me and said thats the most common response I get to that comment! But when I get there apparently I'll know!
