still no word from the doctor... so thaaaaat's nice.

i'm watching the tribute to george carlin and i'm laughing AND crying. as an avid stand up comedy fan and supporter, george's death was heartbreaking for me. i realize he wasn't in the best of health, and after all the hell he put his body through, i'm surprised death didn't find him sooner. but it was still a complete loss for the comedy world, and while i'm sitting here laughing at the clips of him and the stories people are telling, i'm tearing up a little too, because he was the first comedian i really loved as a teen and well into my adulthood.

other comedians i love: jon stewart. richard belzer (yes, he DOES do other things besides play det. munch). richard pryor. chris rock. eddie izzard. lewis black. craig ferguson. randy kagan. dana carvey. john oliver. billy crystal. whoopi goldberg.

but none of them - NONE of them - come close to george, and any of them will tell you, when asked who their influences include, that george was one of the greatest.

so here's to you, george. may you be stoned and happy, wherever you are.
