Attention. Tonight's movie has been "M*A*S*H." Follow the zany antics of our combat surgeons as they cut and stitch their way along the front lines, operating as bombs and bullets burst around them; snatching laughs and love between amputations and penicillin.
For the lack of anything better to do last night (did the TV schedule suck or was it just me?) I delved into the deepest recesses of my DVD collection and stuck this on
I've had the collectors edition of MASH for ages. When I bought it, my dad was so jealous I had to buy him a copy too to shut him up. My grandad saw service in Korea during the war, when my dad was a young boy, and it's one of his favourite films.
I love this film so much that I'm rather embaressed to admit that I didnt include it in my Top 5 movies discussion with SuicideDoggie and Nikkidanger a few weeks ago so I'm making up for that now.
Altman's direction is superb. The actors are just fucking brilliant (Star Trek fans will spot a couple of familiar faces), the film contains a homage to Da Vinci's Last Supper that makes Dan Brown look like a rank amateur and of course there is Sally Kellerman's infamous shower scene to enjoy.
For anyone who has never seen the movie and is only familiar with the TV show YOU HAVE TO SEE THE FILM and if you can get the double DVD watch the Making Of section too.
That is all.
