Ah, the bittersweet smell of the turn-down. Having spoken to Google this morning, I got the "Thanks but no thanks" speech. It seems they felt better about some other candidates. I fought the urge to thank them for keeping me on the chain for 3 months and the ever so funny "let's book a fight and hotel to Toronto" and then mysteriously cancel it three days before the fact.
I thought I would be a bit more bitter about it all, shout at the heavens and all that, but the more I think about it and the other few jobs that I have been toying with the more I think I need to step back and re-consider things.
Frankly, I am sick and tired of having to jump through hoops in jobs I don't like or want. I left the UK to do something meaningful to me and I kind of fell into a rut. I think I am going to have a serious introspection about the possibility of my own company. I like the idea of keeping a tighter hold of my own destiny. It also means I only get paid when I work but we'll get to that in a bit.
I need a cup of tea and a bit of sunshine. Thankfully, both are upstairs.
ps, you should all try The new SG Beta site.
