There once was a girl named Anna.
Nobody knew this but Anna was a witch! Not the kind with candles or potions but the kind passed down through the women in her family. A strong pull towards chaos and magick that she didn't fully understand.
Anna had two friends, Josie and Beth, that called her a loser behind her back. Anna might Not have known that they said these things, but she could sense it.
One Friday in the school yard Beth bought up that she overheard her parents talking about a young boy who had gone missing. "His name is Peter, he's in my brothers sports team and he hasn't been seen since walking home from school yestetday!" Beth explained. Josie sounded very intrigued and mentioned they should go look for him, they knew where he I've afterall!
Anna didn't want to be involved. Not just because her mum would kill her for walking around late after school but because if he was taken by someone, or some THING, should they be out at all? Anna voiced her opinion and her friends only gave her that look. The look that said she's a loser.
After weeks of feeling this from her two close friends, Anna decided to prove to them that she was no loser. Anna had to prove that she was willing to help find Peter but she would do it her way!
"Come to my house after school. I know a way we can find Peter. Dead, or alive".
Shocked, Beth and Josie agreed.
4pm that afternoon all three girls were gathered around a strange board in Anna's room. "This is a ouija board" Anna explained (I originally spelled this WEGIE BOARD! My word hahaha)
"I borrowed it from my mums closet. I've seen her use it once, she called it the board of the lost. Today we use it to find Peter. Close your eyes and think of him. What he looks like. Picture him walking home from school".
The girls did as they were told and as Anna closed her eyes she also tried to think of Peter but her mind began to drift...
Why was it was so important to her to prove herself to her friends?
Did they believe her or were they thinking she was a loser right now?
If they truly knew how powerful she was they wouldn't be so mean!
Who did they think they were anyway?
They were nasty little nobodies, who were always so down on her. Never nice. Never positive. Always whispering. They were the losers! They werent important. They were nothing when you really thought about it.
Anna realised this wasn't going to work. Especially if she couldn't concentrate.
"Maybe this was a bad idea". Anna said. But when no reply came she opened one eye. They were gone! The nasty girls has probably snickered about how lame this was while she was in her own mind and will laugh about her until tomorrow!
Feeling disappointed and sad that she even cares about their opinions, Anna put the board back in her mother's secret chest and got ready for homework and dinner.
"Anna!" Her mum called from the kitchen. Anna drags her feet downstairs to her mums shocked face as she held today's newspaper. Both of her best friends Josie and Beth had not been seen since leaving school yesterday!
"It's so sad. Someone evil is clearly out there snatching kids! I think you should stay honest from school for a whole Anna".
Anna agreed, to be safe she best stay home. But she couldn't help but think that she should stay away from her mothers magic chest aswell...
Perhaps the board of the lost worked after all.

Doo-dee doo-dee doo-deeee *spooky music plays* hahahhahaaa.
Growing up I was in 'Ghost Club' where we would write or collect spooky stories and read them to eachother each week in our spooky clubhouse. A clubhouse that was definitely just a bricked doorless room we found under a building near our homes, that we had to crawl to get to! πΈ
This is one such story that I wrote! π₯°
Before the time of the household/ accessable internet, collecting stories was a difficulty. So a lot came from true crime and what we read about in books. But it kept us out of trouble and started my love for sharing scary stories!
Just look at these silly rules I found in some of my childhood things in a very sealed box of 'never to be opened' club memorabilia.
There you have it; a terrible horror story by me π₯°π Did you enjoy it?
