Hello all!
Who can guess where this photo was taken? 😉
You may have noticed (but it's completely ok if you didn't) that I was absent for a week. Well, my sister and I got talking two weeks aho and decided that we have worked at our jobs for years without a real holiday. I'm going on four years with no more that four days in a row of leave taken. That's ridiculous!
So, we though. Why not go to Fiji?
We applied for leave, and literally had to tell out bosses to shove the job if they didn't like it; because they really didn't like it. What kind of manager doesn't like thier employees taking leave mid year... for only two weeks... after years of never asking for a thing? Dead set. I totally would have quit if mine hesitated to approve my leave.
Any who. A week later our little holiday was booked and paid for. In two days we were packed and off on a plane to the hot islands of kind cannibals.
(Yes, they were once cannibals. Fijian history is a fascinating one worth reading about!)
We spent a week on a private property on the water with no reception and no tv. No electrical appliances other than a few lights. It was amazing!
Here's a little look at our holiday.
Getting our feet wet off the pontoon.
Always goofing off.
Burgers by the harbour.
View from the top of the town.
We drank all of the kava!
Hiking behind our place.
Little jetty across the river.
Getting shown the best way to cook your Fijian foods.
We went kayaking in our backyard.
Bella was our guardian for our stay. She went everywhere with us and protected the house.
Heavenly views in every direction.
All smiles.
The locals dogs were soaking up the cuddles because we were missing our own dogs.
We also visited the community centre and churches, watched the local primary school dance troops shake it and went shopping in town and drank with the locals. Mostly we drank kava, swam, ate, walked everywhere and played a little uno and celebrity heads in our down time haha. It was an amazing experience!
That said, I was happy to come home to my comfy bed, flushing toilet, my Xbox and my dogs. Haha.
What is the craziest last minute adventure you have ever been on?
