Starting off with a cute photo from before yesterday turned into the most horrible day I've had all year!
As most of you all know I currently have a Go Fund Me account that I am using to help me save for a trip to a US shoot-fest this year. Well as some of you may not know my saving had not been going well since my dog began testing for an unknown problem.
So far I have spend about $2,500 on tests from my savings and then taken out some family loans. I now have nothing left but the very generous donations you have all sent! So it looks like I won't be able to make it to the US after all :(
Cody-Wan has unfortunately become increasingly worse. He always had what I thought was a balance problem. He would bump into things and hurt himself, but one day while playing ball he completely ran in the wrong direction of the ball...
(and Cody-Wan ever misses a catch)
...the then proceeded to turn to face me, and hit the ground. He was only out for a moment. He then got back up very quickly, ran to me, sat on me and didn't move for 20 minutes.
That was the first time.
We did the usual tests. From blood tests to an ultrasound and ECG to make sure his heart was fine. Which it was, although two Vets could not explain how his heart was running MUCH slower than it should even during sleep. Cody should have a heart rate of about 100 at rest and up to, I think, 120 at play... his was 60. It has since gotten worse.
Yesterday Cody had his first seizure.
The first one that I had witnessed anyway and it was horrifying. For me, the saddest part is that although he is almost always with me and is an inside dog this may have already been happening for a long time and I haven't even known about it.
Seizures are unpredictable and different for every dog. Yesterday it only lasted a little over a minute, then he was back to his old self within 5 minutes. It is scary to know that because they are so quick this could even happen during one of his sunbathing stints or walks around the yard when I rarely check on him! :'(
So for this reason I have been suggested an MRI to check for masses in the brain.
A brain rumour, cancerous or not, is the most likely culprit. Of course there is alway the chance he simply has Epilepsy, which in itself requires testing and treatment with side effects; but with no prior history of seizures at his previous home and the gradual decrease in his hand/ paw coordination I am fearing the worst!
But I have to keep looking at the positives. He is the best dog and we will get through this! On a brighter note, today we had a bath. Look how cute he is haha. So fluffy! ❤
So if any one would like to donate, all of the money will now be going toward paying for Cody-Wan's Vet bills and help me save for the MRI scan that we can hopefully have done soon.
Love to you all ox
