Today I got a call from the vets to tell me that my dog has a possible heart condition.
The last few days my bordercollie Cody-Wan has not been himself. He is the most lively, fun loving and spirited dog I have ever has the pleasure of owning, but the last few days he has barely gotten out if bed.
Yesterday we went to visit our Vet for help, they did a few blood test for which everything came back normal. The only problem seemed to be that his heart rate is abnormally low. For a dog his size a healthy heart rare varies from 80 resting to over 100 while active. At Cody-Wans last they timed his heart rate at an average of 95-100 bpm... Yesterday it was 60.
At this moment he is laying in his bed with his head hanging over the edge, watching me. He is usually always by my side, especially while I am upset. Instead, he doesn't move. He keeps looking at me from across the room like he is trying to tell me something but I just can't figure out what it is. I have never felt so entirely hopeless!
The tests drained me if all of my savings and can you believe that the only day the specialist had available for the next three weeks was for 12pm tomorrow. That gives me less than a day to come up with a little over $700.
All I can do right now is stay positive. I just have to keep smiling for him because he is such a sensitive soul and I just can't imagine life without his happy face by my side!
