Holy crap-load of hours, batman! I've been working my butt off for gamestop lately, and it's rad. Yesterday I helped gamestop give birth to a brand new store. I've never helped at a store opening before, and I gotta say, I loved it. Getting to see the new relay for the stores was also interesting. I can't say I agree with all of the marketing strategy they've got going on, but it will definitly look awesome in some of the larger stores. My store, however, will be a pain in the ass when it comes to the relay(new store set up), because it is far too small to do the relay the way all the other stores are doing it.
Our store is one of the smallest in so cal. There is only one smaller, and thats in the West Covina mall. It will take a lot of creative planning to get our store to look even remotely close to the others with the new layout, we don't have nearly as much wall space, or floor space as any of the other stores, and a lot of the new relay requires everything to be faced out, rather than book-shelved, and we simply don't have the space. I guess we'll just have to see what sort of ingenius plan the big-wigs come up with.
I really love that our hours at GS are competitive, because a lot of people seem to like to flake, and when they do, I get to step in and scoop up the hours, and it continues to better my reputation with the company. I have a feeling our new DM is impressed with my ability thus far, so that's a big plus. Hopefully my hard work with pay off, and I will get promoted.
One of the seemingly great aspects of working for gamestop, for me, is that I know a lot of the people I work with, are potheads, much like myself. You catch little comments that you know only a stoner would say...or when a cheech and chong DVD gets traded in, and they snicker, or make a comment about it being a good one, or not so good one...you just know, they're a stoner. Which is awesome, yet so very sad because for me, pot is a very social drug. It was one of the best ice-breakers for me when it came to meeting new people, and getting to know them, for years and years. It would still be the case, if my husband weren't a new store manager in the same company, and I didn't have to worry about tarnishing(heh) his reputation by saying "yeah I smoke too." I mean, I know it's probably for the best that people don't know I smoke, but I just think of all the new smoking buddies I could make, and it totally bums me out. We are constantly looking for new friends, who like to smoke, and play video games, and it's not as easy as you'd think. So when you work for a video game store, and you see your co-workers all glassy-eyed and smilin' and you can't tell them to share next time...it sucks. I know derek takes his job seriously, and he doesn't want people thnking he's just some lazy stoner(which he isn't), and I respect him too much to even make people suspect that he, might, smoke weed. It just sucks knowing that there are hundreds of game-loving potheads that I could easily access and befriend...and yet, I can't. Anyone wanna be my smokin' buddy??
god what a boring fucking journal. I should spice it up somehow....
red is festive, right? kinda? I never wear it, because I have naturally reddish skin, and it just brings that our even more, when all I ever try to do is tone it down. heh. But I got this sweater as a gift for someone, and before I gave it to her, we were shopping and she saw it, and said it was cute, but how she never wears sweaters because they never fit right across her boobs...soooo I kept it. heh. Fashion forward women and men, what do you think? should I dare to wear red? or try to pawn this off on my gramma?
No I am not fishing for compliments, I would really like you to be honest, if it's not my color, I can take it. I just wanted an outside opinion, since ones toughest critic, is always themself. I don't think I've ever really known what "my color" was. My wardrobe is pretty much consumed by black, and working at Avenue, kind of changed that a little. Colors are scary to someone who hasn't worn them in years...help me out ya'll.
Have any of you seen V for Vendetta? I loved every second of it, and if you didn't see it in the theatres, please at least rent it or check it out from net flix when it comes out on DVD. It's fucking wonderful.
