I thought some of you might be interested in some behind the scenes stuff and the thinking behind my new set Follow the White Rabbit
As a lot of people on here already know, I am a big fan of doing themed sets. The planning is almost as much fun as actually shooting the set. I love to hide things in sets, little details, things that aren't very obvious that not many people pick up
I wonder how many people picked up the real theme of this set? It may appear to be a twisted Alice in Wonderland tribute, and in a way it is, but there is a much deeper theme here...
This set is really about split personality. The darker personality luring the more innocent one onto the dark side. I didn't make it super obvious, but the first clue is in pic 3, where the two characters are in the picture but oblivious to each others presence. The poster is the link between the two. The second clue is in pic 29, when the innocent finds the white hoodie and the pocket watch under the bed.
The bunny mask is ultimately the gateway to the dark side.
The loss of innocence is symbolized by the blue ribbon (pretty obvious I know, but I love symbolism).
I tried to make my expressions and whole demeanor darker as the set progressed. The innocent briefly thinks about turning back when she covers herself with the red satin sheet in pic 38, but in the end she gives in and embraces the darkness.
And so the lesson ends lol.
Some useless facts about the set:
It was shot in central Johannesburg, near Arts on Main in the 12 Decades Hotel. I found out today that the outside shots were taken in the same place as they filmed some of the new Judge Dredd. Who knew
It was a lovely hot day and the beautiful Lunar played assistant to Talamia. The outside shots were interesting. We had to try and put the bunny posters up sneakily. We were approached by some security guards who were going to tell us that we weren't allowed to do what we were doing but we managed to sweet talk them and in the end they were thrilled when Talamia wanted to take pics of them hehe.
I had to change clothes in the street. That was tricky to say the least. But I am pleased to say that no one saw anything and I did not get arrested for indecent exposure
When we were almost done with the outside shots there was a car accident pretty much right in front of us. And no it wasn't because of me! Luckily no one was hurt but we rushed out of there pretty fast before the police arrived and asked what we were doing. Bit of a hectic start to a set.
It all turned out well in the end though.
Thanks to everyone who has looked at my set and commented. Lots of love to you all

Hey lady! Thank you for the kind words. The specialist we are seeing this week does not operate. He simply manages the condition with alternative medicine and diet. I will hear what he has to say before making a decision as to whether I'll take puppy for a 3rd opinion with the specialist who does the surgery.
