How many times do you drive the same path to work? To school? To the store? To the thousands of common places you go during the day? And how often have you actually paid attention to what's truly there?

My job has me travelling a lot, and every where I go, I notice that people just don't seem to pay any attention to what's around them. "How can you walk by that beautiful tree and not notice? How can you not see the baby birds in that nest? How can you not realize what you have by living here?"

I always went through that in a new place. Wasn't all that long ago that I realized I was doing the same thing when I was home. I was not noticing that tree. I was not seeing the baby birds in their nest. Even the most aware of us need to open our eyes and ears and nose and sense of touch from time to time. We can always be more aware.

When driving or walking to work or school, pay closer attention. What have you not been noticing?
