I have a couple of goals for this blog. Not just this post in particular, but this space in general. I'll confess: I have this goal for just about every blog I set up. I get hung up on wanting to post about goings-on, and days pass while I try to sort it out. And more things go on, and I want to write about them, and the post continues to be more conceptual than tangible.
So let's get a few things out of the way. I have a new business. It's called smart spark. It's little more than a name and a piece of e-real estate right now. And of course a massive mental library and a nearly-full notebook of brainstorms and chicken scratches. By October 18th, we'll have some sort of web presence, as we'll be introducing it to a number of trade show attendees.
And this is how we'll try to generate buzz. We'll be at some trade shows. We'll be demoing some elements to organizations we need to have on board. For this, we're going to end up being road warriors of sorts, so we invested in some tools of the trade. I love this machine. It's more powerful than my desktop. So I'm using it as my main machine now. Plus now I can roam the land, hunting for wifi to steal
I have one concern, and I'll just vocalize it now so I'm not in denial about it or anything, and I can recognize its omnipresence. My choice of business partners was not really a choice; my dad and I started the web business together, so this was always going to end up being ours together too. Over the past couple of years I've developed my own... business "personality" for lack of a better moniker. My philosophies and conduct with business situations is becoming significantly different from his. Not a deal breaker in itself, but our ideas are often at opposite ends of the spectrum, and consequently in conflict with each other. And that can be a deal breaker. To the point where I briefly doubted him as a "choice" of business partner. But for someone at the age where many have already retired, he has undeniable enthusiasm. He's jumped into this with both feet. And I know his commitment will benefit us in general and me in particular. It'll keep me focused.
Okay! Onward. I've noticed some people are doing a cool kind of profile dump into their blogs, just like writing and writing and writing about personal history and personality stuff. I love it, but since I a)don't want to devote a whole entry to it, and b) already wrote a crapload here, I'm going to drip feed my profile dump to you. So here you go:
1. I am a pure, distilled Sagittarius. Creative, a dreamer, and a procrastinator. My sarcasm and optimism are probably more infuriating than they are charming.
