Yeah, I know. I'm a bad person. One of these days I'll get back to updating regularly, I swear!
So I started my Japanese 2 class yesterday. Appropriately enough, it has two people in it (including me). Should make learning a lot quicker. We're gonna be working on learning to read Hiragana and Katakana at first. I can recognize maybe five characters so far, so I've got a ways to go. But it'll be fun. The trick'll be actually getting myself to study.
I got satellite TV installed on the 9th. It's alright. I get a Japanese station which is nice, and maybe a dozen other stations worth watching. Fortunately, the TiVo ripoff that we got with the satellite lets you customize the channel list. I've got
FOX ('cause it shows the Simpsons and TMNT)
Comedy Central (duh)
the History Channel (occasionally has something interesting)
SciFi (Godzilla movies, X-Files, other cool stuff)
AMC (sometimes has cool movies)
IFC (has cool movies fairly often. Yojimbo's about to come on, in fact)
TCM (occasionally has good movies)
BBC America (Monty Python, the Prisoner, sometimes has other interesting stuff)
ESPN and ESPN2 (sometimes has interesting stuff)
Noggin/the N (Daria, and in the futile hope that it'll start showing Pete & Pete again)
Cartoon Network (duh)
the Discover Channel (sometimes has interesting stuff)
Animal Planet (I saw something cool on it once. Not sure what it was though)
G4 Tech TV (sometimes has interesing stuff)
the Travel Channel (has this one really cool show about vacation homes. No really, I'm serious. Check it out)
and the Japanese channel I mentioned before. So yeah, 14 channels that don't suck out of about 500. I'm glad I'm not the one paying for this.
