So I've been looking at the literary value of different forms of entertainment recently, and it occured to me that there hasn't been a lot of discussion on the subject of video games. Many video games have complex plots, but do any approach the level of books or comics? Have any of you played any games that you might consider literature (or something equivalent)? Off the top of my head, I can think of some that might fit that description: the Shenmue series, the Xeno series, and the Silent Hill series. That last one sounds a little strange, but not when you consider that that series couldn't be done as effectively using any other storytelling method; and that's on top of the psychological issues examined in some of the games.
Wow, that was a lot of pseudo-intellectualism right there, eh?
