And so I have have survived the carnival funhouse, and come out the other side.
Query -- Has anyone here ever kept a "Dear God if you only . . . ." promise?
I know that it is a common thing to make promises to the Lord during extreme times of duresss . . .
"Dear God just let me live through thisnight and I'll never drink/smoke/(insert drug here) again"
"Dear God please let Scott Norwood shank this kick"
"Dear God, if you just let Mookie reach"
"Dear God, if you just let her understand"
haven't we all promised to be good boys and girls if one of those thingamijiggers were to be divinely aided?
I mean in one way or another haven't we all promised our own connversion/redemption -- pledged never to drink again/ask for anything again/fuck up again have goat-sex again?
I don't know. . . I need to know, I need theological help, serious theological help.

pav:
I never made those promises. I figure if I'm going to fantasize about things that won't happen anyway, I might as well skip the part where *I* have to do something to deserve it.
