So I go into the restroom at work at the end of the day. I'm minding my own business whilst taking care of business at the urinal. Then this middle-aged guy practically kicks in the door singing some kind of old-timey tune. So yeah, awkward. He pulls up to the stall next to me, glances over, and says "Singing's free, you know? Why not do it?" I replied with a simple "Yep." We then proceeded to talk about the weather until I washed my hands and got out the hell out of there.
Now, it wasn't the fact that he was talking to me while we were both doing our thing that weirded me out as much as it was the singing. Who sings as they're walking through a public restroom? And who then feels as if they need to defend the fact that they were singing in a public restroom? It wasn't like I gonna start arguing with the guy about it, so clearly it was awkward enough for him to be singing in a public restroom to warrant him giving that short explanation in order to try and make things less odd.
And even what he said was awkward..."Singing's free...why not do it?" All I could think was, "Yep, you're right...singing is free in a public restroom. Hell, so is pissing all over the floors, but you don't see anyone in their right mind doing that because maybe everyone wouldn't appreciate it as much as you do."
But yeah, that was my strange moment for the day.
A couple weeks ago I got into a small fender bender, after 6 years of accident-free driving. My front bumper got bent inward against the front-right tire, which caused about $2000 worth of damage on a car worth about $1500 (in good condition). It could still run and drive, but I had to make the hard decision of moving on from that car...which took me everywhere with practically no problems for 6 years. It sucked to leave it with the rip-off dickheads at the towing body shop, but I didn't have a choice. I'm sure it'll back on the road...it was in too good of condition, even despite the damage from the accident. But now I'm driving a 2000 Honda CR-V, and it's good to sit up higher on the road and getting that extra power and dependability that comes with AWD, but it isn't quite "me." But it's all I got, so I'm not complaining.
