I write from snow again; it does inspire words, or the space and quiet to sit and string words together. Thick, lazy flakes are swooping around over the barren Brooklyn backyards I look out on; here, let my show you my window, albeit not a current shot.
The glass is old and moisture has seeped into it creating a strange translucence, which makes the blurry white snow-effect more pronounced!
I'll stop raving about the weather for once, for some breaking news:
I'm going to grad school!!!
I always knew I would, but I've finally gotten IN to a PhD program, to what is possibly the most competitive program for my field in this country. They will tell me about funding in the coming weeks, so keep fingers crossed for me.
I'd have to leave all this snow behind and head back into constant rain, but to be wanted by such a rigorous program renews my passion for the field, and my confidence that I can push through the next 5 years and come out with a PhD. And drink plenty of good old northwestern microbrews in the process.
