I learned, for the first time, to Ski DOWN a hill, instead of up or across. An entirely different feeling, Especially for my ass, which remained in contact with the snow for most of the time.
Therefore all I wanted for New Years was to soak in a hot tub in the snow, gazing out at mountains and little peaked houses and fairy lights and fireworks...with two beautiful women and a bottle of champagne.
It isn't often that we get what we wish for, but this time it was all that and more. Imagine this: Your hair starts freezing as your body boils away in the tub, and your feet turn to icicles as you run through the snow. So you discover a slate and glass shower with hissing steam jets and double water spouts, and you all pile in to thaw and discuss important matters that ought not to be relayed in public. Beautiful, warm, steamy....it's days later and I'm still reveling in the quaint and quiet evening. Sometimes, often, that is the best way to celebrate...
Though when I think back on it now, I can't help wondering how much energy it takes to keep a hot tub in the Utah Mountains heated, and how much we wasted in our hours of showering. I'd better atone for my eco-sins, and perhaps will go the next week without showering. Or only cold showering. In the snow.
