Hello everyone,
I've been meaning to do this for a while now, the vital stats page is so limited and I figured that I would answer some of those questions here.
Okay, I'm a male in my early 50s, a father of two grown children and I have a stepdaughter with the lady I expect to grow old with.
I was born and raised here in British Columbia, I lived in a small town as a child but have been here in Vancouver for 40 years now. So a city boy with country roots.
I'm a plumber by trade and have worked as a general contractor for 8 years now. Sometimes I have to flip through sets a couple of extra times as I go over kitchen and bathroom details, good excuse right?
This has been my office for the last 10 months, I have been renovating the basement here...
My house has a view of the mountains behind this one during the winter when the trees are bare, lol.
So, how did I end up here?
When I was little, four years old and maybe earlier I would get up in the middle of the night and watch Linda Carter as Wonder Woman, my first crush. So, I've kinda always had a thing for strong women. A few years ago I was playing LOTR Rise to War in beta and then as it went fully online, my Discord group solidified and added a NSFW thread. With all the stuff the younger guys were posting I felt that some class and tattoos were sadly missing and I sought to rectify the situation.
I've been a SG fan since it began, loving it's ethos and loosely following, cheering when the logo and merch would show up in popular culture like Californication. So, I have become more active here as I decided to quit gaming and have more idle time than I'm used to. My context is that if you are willing to show me yours the least that I can do is give back some love. I wish success for every person here in all their dreams.
Music
Growing up my parents were hippie/partiers and music was always playing. I literally listen to everything from Bizets Carmen Suites to Cradle of Filth Cruelty and the Beast. I mainly listen to Rock, Metal and Blues though. Classic Rock- America Graffiti to Led Zeppelin, Eagles, Pink Floyd. Metal- Helter Skelter notwithstanding metal came to being during my childhood and really solidified during my teens, it literally relaxes me. During my teens and early 20s every spare cent I had went to music, local gigs and stadium shows. I've been fortunate enough to have had seen almost every band that I would want to see. Blues- a more recent love as I've gotten older, some standouts are Allman Brothers, Taj Mahal, Joe Bonamassa, Gary Clark Jr., Beth Hart, Tedeschi Trucks Band. Stuff that's on the top of the list right now- Manchester Orchestra, Blacktop Mojo, Blue October, Avi Kaplan, Pretty Reckless, Halestorm, Kaleo, The Hu, Alien Weaponry, Nothing More, Sully Erna, Lacuna Coil, Arch Enemy, Nita Strauss, Black Pumas, Johnathan Roy, David Guetta, Jacob Banks, Black Label Society, Staind, Orbit Culture, Lana Del Ray, Linkin Park, Korn, FFDP, Ministry, Type O Negative, KMFDM, White Zombie, Lamb of God... And then there's Grunge and 80s & 90s Metal... The Big Four, Danzig, Pearl Jam, Sound Garden, STP. I think you get the point.
Books
I first read the Hobbit when I was eight, I read LOTR when I was ten. I have read an average of 100 pages a day since then not including text books or work. I used to read three books at a time, a fiction, a non- fiction and a backup incase I forgot one somewhere, lol. I mainly read Fantasy/Sci-fi, Thriller/Crime and Historical fiction. Some recent non-fiction I have read- Killers of the Flower Moon, The Good Man of Nanking, Not on My Watch by Alexandra Morton, The Burglary by Betty Medsger. I like physics, psychology, social biology and war autobiography.
TV/Film
If it's edgy, sexy, violent, intelligent, extravagant, offensive, mischievous, odd, irreverent, I probably really enjoy it. Altered Carbon, Spartacus, Black Sails...Classic comedy from Three's Company, Mash to Seinfeld and Friends has it's place as does the modern animated comedies. Some favorite movies/actors- Cool Hand Luke- Paul Newman, Papillion- Steve McQueen, Unforgiven- Clint Eastwood, Bram Stoker's Dracula- Gary Oldman, Clockwork Orange & Caligula- Malcolm McDowell, Rocky Horror Picture Show- Tim Curry, Donnie Darko- Jake Gyllenhaal. Modern epic fantasy/sci-fi series Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, Rings of Power, Cowboy Bebop. Star Wars, Star Trek and LOTR movies of course. Animated movies like Fritz the Cat, Heavy Metal and Akira, series like Afro Samurai and Boondocks. My favorite Hentai is Bible Black. Favorite Directors- D. Chronenberg- Videodrom, M. Knight Shyamalan- Glass/Split/Unbreakable, Anything Tarantino. I love anything with vampires, Underworld, Blade, Anne Rice.
Well, if you are still here I applaud you. Seriously.
Hobbies- Music, Reading, Driving, Camping, very sharp things, I carve soapstone and alabaster, I also do leather work it was my Covid hobby. Oh, I also make the occasional lamp from threaded iron pipe and build my computers when I have to.
