Myth 5: You'll be rewarded if you do a good job


You'll actually be rewarded only if you're likable. So spend your days trying to figure out what people need and what people want, and how you can help them. Empathy makes you likable.

The people who don't want to have to deal with kindness will complain. But for most of us, it's big relief to know that the workplace of the new millennium demands more kindness and respect than ever before.

Well that is true and I can't help it if people don't like me and want to call me gay or laugh at me because I'm "different".
They won't like you if you don't have a lot in common, I don't smoke so I guess the chit chat at smoke break I'm gonna miss out on.
When your boss is more concerned with the bottom line and growing the business it's hard to take the time to be friends with you coworkers, I mean you'll have a couple but they take time.

Going out after work is supposedly a no-no, too much gossip and potentially unprofessional behavior that could damage your reputation.

It's great to be liked but if your incompetent and people like you how does that get your job done?

I know that's what people would like I like that too. I'd like too sit around all day with my friends and hang out on the lake and laugh but unfortunately it's work.

You can try the best to get along with people but if they're intent on stabbing you in the back, mistaking kindness for weakness, your offers of help to them mean you will want something later in return then what's the point?

I do the right thing because, it's the right thing to do.
If I have to draw attention to myself because I want someone to see me doing something again, what's the point?

You know what I'm going to try it, seriously. I'm going to find out what the owner of the restaraunt wants AFTER I order my food. I'll see if I can "nice" my way out of paying my bill.

When I go into work tomorow I'll see if I can be "nice" all day and get paid for it.

All I can do is be me and that's all.
