So about two years ago, I found this very piece of art at a local Goodwill (off of SE Grand Avenue in PDX, specifically). I was instantly and unquestionably smitten -- I quickly framed it and hanged it next to my bed. I find the image itself to be serene and ghostly, and it reminds me a lot of Neil Gaiman's Sandman mythos.
The mystery, to me, stems from what it is and who made it. The title on the print's backside is 'The Seekers', and the artist's signature is largely illegible. I get the impression that it was digitally painted, but I couldn't find anything about it on the internet. I showed the image that I scanned to someone who suggested that the two figures were giving themselves to each other (the crescent being a feminine symbol and the arrow being masculine). The moon, the star (or Venus...?) and the boat in the background make me wonder if they hold symbolic value as well. (edit: It was also noted that in addition to the feminine and masculine symbols, the two figures seem quite androgynous. I wonder if that, too, lends itself to the image's context.)
Any thoughts? Does this image look familiar?
