i have always been fascinated by stories of 'feral children': kids, either lost or abandoned, who end up living wild with animals-- goats, bears, apes, other animals, most often wolves...
"In May 1972, a boy aged about four was discovered in the forest of Musafirkhana, near Sultanpur... The boy was playing with wolf-cubs. He had very dark skin, long hooked fingernails, matted hair and calluses on his palms, elbows and knees. He shared several characteristics with (other documented feral children) Kamala and Amala: sharpened teeth, craving for blood, earth-eating, chicken-hunting, love of darkness and friendship with dogs and jackals."
the new issue of The Fortean Times has a pretty good article on the history of such children.... http://www.forteantimesmag.co.uk/
the article isn't on the site yet (you'll have to, and should, buy the magazine), but it might show up online at a later date.
and if you don't hear from me on the boards again, it's because I finally found my family of feral cats. don't worry about me-- I'll be just fine. raw food, no clothes, no commercials. i'll be in heaven.
